Our history

A deep-rooted history

The company traces its roots back to 1998, when Omer Vallée began operating his woodlot in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton. In search of a portable sawmill that was affordable, robust, and easy to use for his personal projects, he encountered very limited options. Omer decided to acquire a small, rudimentary sawmill and modify it to better meet his needs.

Omer’s sawmill quickly gained popularity within the village. A neighbour, wanting to acquire similar equipment, asked Omer if he could build one for him. Although sawmill sales were not an initial goal for Omer, he was convinced to build a second machine for his neighbour. Thus, the Vallee portable sawmill was born.

25 years of innovation in the forestry sector

Between 1998 and 2008, around 50 sawmills were built and sold. In 2008, Pascal Vallée, Omer’s son, who had assisted his father for more than a decade, founded Pascal Métal Inc. with the ambition of producing portable sawmills on a larger scale. Pascal, seeking to diversify the offerings, later founded Pascal International Inc., a company specializing in the import and sale of affordable forestry products made abroad. The company introduced the Red Runner product line, aimed at expanding its offerings to hobbyist and occasional forestry workers. In 2018, Pascal Métal Inc. and Pascal International Inc. merged to become Vallee Forestry Equipment.

Since its founding, Vallee Forestry Equipment has sold thousands of sawmills and other forestry products in Canada and the United States. The company now has over 30 employees and is supported by a large network of dedicated dealers. Continuing to innovate and adapt to the changing needs of the market, Vallee Forestry Equipment is committed to maintaining the quality that has built its reputation, ensuring its growth in the forestry sector for years to come.
